I work with the raw beauty of nature—gemstones, shells, crystals, and pearls, or as I like to call them, treasures—so you can wear something truly meaningful. The art of cutting, shaping, and polishing stones is called Lapidary, but I often like to call it ‘gettin my rocks off.’ No offense intended, it’s just a funny way to describe the pure joy I feel when I’m in that creative zone. For me, it’s therapeutic—there’s something about holding each one in my hands that is both calming and exhilarating. I love raw and natural crystals too, and by deliberately leaving one side raw you can truly appreciate their natural beauty.
But it’s more than just cutting stones; it’s about bringing them to life. Each one goes through multiple steps before it becomes the feature of my designs. There are saws for the rough cuts, grinders to shape, sanders to smooth, and polishing pads to finish. If I’m making earrings, matching the stones in size and shape is a challenge in itself—it takes precision and a lot of patience. Every piece is hand-selected and shaped, allowing its natural beauty to shine through. I let the stone guide me, finding that little shimmer of personality and If I’m not feeling that connection, the stone waits for another day until the time is right. No two pieces are ever the same, and that’s the beauty of it.

My passion for creating jewellery runs deep—it’s a tradition passed down from my Nan, Rayleen, a gifted silversmith and lapidary artist. Her creative spirit inspires me every day, and I feel honoured to continue her legacy, not only by naming this little business after her but also by crafting beautiful, meaningful jewellery that brightens people’s lives, hopefully just like you.
My journey began in 2016, I was craving a creative outlet from my Nursing Profession and busy mum/family life. Following my Nans footsteps, I joined my local Lapidary club and cut my first gemstone—a Tiger’s Eye that took six hours to shape and polish. They taught me the basics, answered a thousand questions (still do too!) and now I hone my creativity, continue to learn but always staying true to my values. It’s dirty, messy work, but also incredibly rewarding. Nothing makes me happier than knowing the pieces I create bring joy to others.
When I’m cutting stones, it’s all about love, patience, and going with the flow. It’s almost spiritual—I let the energy of each treasure guide me, and if I’m not feeling it, I save it for another day. It’s definitely not glamorous work! I get dirty, wet, and sometimes covered in the coloured mud of whatever stone I am cutting, and that’s where my trusty poncho comes in handy. Not only keeps me dry but warm in winter. Sometimes it’s so cold, I have my ski boots, jacket, beanie and thermals… now that’s dedication don’t you think! Then with my headphones on to drown out the noise, I’m lost in the moment, moving to the beat of the music as I bring each piece to life.

Take a look at some of the steps involved in the creation process, from rough cuts to polished perfection. Matching stones for earrings or shaping each treasure to reveal its inner beauty takes time, patience, and plenty of tools. Once they are done I store them in photo albums and they are ready for setting with Sterling Silver. This makes them easy to take on my adventures and I can easily create wherever I wish (although soldering is a little hard on a sailing boat).
